Post Office Opportunity
Opportunity for Post Office Provision
You may already be aware that Morrisons on Station Road will close at the beginning of August. As a result, the Post Office currently located within the store will also close.
As a Community Council, we have been actively working to retain a Post Office service in Radyr & Morganstown. This is clearly an important issue for our community, demonstrated by over 1,000 petition signatures and strong attendance at a community meeting in June with more than 80 people present.
The Post Office has now opened applications for a new franchise in Radyr: https://runapostoffice.co.uk/branch/radyr-post-office-cardiff-cf15-8aa?search_term=radyr-south-glamorgan.
Their website also provides further information and case studies from a wide range of businesses that have successfully incorporated a Post Office service:
https://runapostoffice.co.uk/Research from the Post Office suggests that 93% of shoppers are more likely to choose a store that offers Post Office services, highlighting the potential benefit this could bring to your business. We understand the Post Office can give between £24,000 and £32,000 a year to the host. While there are, of course, risks and considerations to weigh, we wanted to ensure you were aware of this opportunity.
If you would like to explore this further, Cllr Lauren Fear (Lauren.Fear@Radyr.Wales) is helping to coordinate local activity and would be very happy to discuss this with you.
Please note that the current deadline to register an expression of interest is 10 July. While we are seeking an extension to this timescale, we recommend acting within this deadline for now. Registering interest does not commit you to proceeding further.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support a vital community service.
