The current Chairman is Councillor Allan Cook. He represents Morganstown Ward.

​As Chairman his responsibilities include:

  • Presiding over Council meetings.

  • Promoting and raising awareness of our objectives and priority issues

  • Encouraging and supporting all aspects of local life by attending civic and public events

  • Receiving visitors

  • Acting as host on behalf of the Council and the local residents at civic functions

  • Acting as a spokesperson to the local, national, and international media

  • Providing an appropriate response on behalf of the Council at times of local, national, and international catastrophe

  • Supporting and encouraging charitable and other appeals as appropriate

  • Promoting business, commercial, cultural, and social life locally

  • Promoting our community as a place of excellence in which to do business and as a tourist destination.

The Chairman has attended a number or events since taking office in May 2024. He has presided over several Council meetings. He has encouraged the Council to set strategic objectives.
